I was born and raised in San Diego, CA where I was a veterinary technician for over 30 years. We lived near the ocean and had a very active family life with surfing and horses. I was married for 18 years and have two sons who are the light of my life. My parents lived in Squaw Valley in the 1980’s and we would often come to the Tahoe area for visits. I fell in love with the mountains and dreamed of someday living here as well. A small town, with a warm community “feel” was a place I wanted to become a part of. When my youngest son was 11, my dream came true and we moved to Truckee 18 years ago. I went back to school, attended the University of Nevada, Reno to obtain a Dual Credential in General Education and Special Education. Although it took many years of working multiple jobs, including Sierra Pet Clinic in Truckee, the hard work paid off. In the mean time, I finished raising my son in Truckee which was a wonderful experience for both of us. My son, Dane, is now a Wildland Firefighter in the region and he loves his life. I too, appreciate my life in Truckee. I am now in my tenth year teaching fulltime as a Special Education Teacher, giving support to Resource students K-3rd grade (as well as older grade level support) at Truckee Elementary. Truckee is a small town that reaches out to her community and strives to help those in need. When families are taken care of, neighborhoods and wilderness in and around Truckee will also be valued for future generations. I feel privileged to work alongside the excellent teaching staff at Truckee Elementary. Their commitment to empowering those in need through advice, resources and education is inspiring.
